Meeting Minutes — MP&CAC – Hellgate Chapter, August 21, 2017 Ice Cream Social – Greg & Anne Woods residence
President Dave McIntosh called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm after members enjoyed ice cream, a variety of toppings and delicious desserts. Dave and members thanked Greg and Anne for hosting our annual ice cream social once again.
Members Present: 24 Guests: Brenda and Layla, niece and granddaughter of Sam & Helen Johnson.
Minutes: Dispensed with minutes of previous meeting, May 15, as old news.
Treasurer’s Report: Report appears in official minutes. No bills. Membership dues are due, $30.00 which includes both state and local chapter. Checks to Karen, made out to Hellgate Car Club.
Correspondence: Doug had cards promoting the Stan Howe Auction in Cut Bank coming up Aug. 26, with Phase 2 scheduled June, 2018. He also had flyers for Dayton Daze on September 9. Cathy noted extra July Times and Rosters and supplements have been received.
Old Business:
Dave reported that long time member Dave Majors passed away this week. After a brief discussion, Doug moved that the club donate $25.00 to Dave’s favorite non-profit, the Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation; Mary seconded; motion passed.
Fall Tour, Hamilton: Doug reported that the Hamilton chapter has cancelled the fall tour for several reasons: poor air quality due to the many forest fires, one of the tour areas being closed down, again due to fire, and fewer than expected registrations. Hamilton has agreed to host the next spring tour.
Camp Make-a-Dream Event/Benefit: Doug Winz reported that fewer funds were raised this year, although the final total is not in yet. It’s inclusive as to whether the organization will stay with an auto themed event in future.
Hellgate Logo Redesign: Vickie Spencer is still working on the new design. She indicated she will try to have something by next meeting. Discussion continues.
New Business:
Tour to the new Napps in Hamilton: Fred is setting up one more day trip, probably in September. Date to be set.
Christmas Party, December 3: Fred and Mary asked members about possible locations. It was decided to use Paradise Falls again as there is no room charge. Discussion continues.
Business Cards Promoting Club: Greg distributed sheets of business cards with the chapter’s website info. The idea here is if you see a classic parked somewhere, you could put a card under the windshield wiper or simply hand one to a person who might be interested in the club. Dave and members thanked Greg for all the work he’s done on the club website and encouraged everyone to check it regularly as events, photos and meeting minutes will appear regularly.
Club Shirts: Greg distributed flyers on some shirts we could order which would have the club logo and our personal names on them. He even modeled a similar shirt from his former car club. There is no set up charge. Discussion continues.
Next Meeting/Potluck: Monday, September 18, 6:30 pm, Legion Hall. Hosts: Cohens and Smyers
